Maryland State Fair - The 11 Best Days of Summer

Powassan Fall Fair - Thanks Jamie Toeppner for the PicturesSince I was a little girl I have always loved the fair.  Of course when I was a little girl the Fall Fair was where all the farmers brought their best produce and best livestock to be judged and school children entered their best art work and penmanship (Peter Putnum and I always vied for the top spot in penmanship we were always 1 and 2 through 4th grade - isn't it funny the things you remember?) and then there were a few amusement rides.  I grew up in a very small town in rural northern Ontario and the Fall Fair really was more about agriculture, getting together with people you didn't see all year and localism.   Thanks Jamie Toeppner for the great photographs of the Powassan Fall Fair.

The Maryland State Fair opens on August 28th and runs through September 7, 2015.  It's a shame the kids go back to school a week early this year and won't have a chance to participate in the State Fair without missing school.
