Baltimore City Employee Home Ownership Program
This program is designed to assist all active employees of the City of Baltimore to become homeowners within the city limits.
All active employees of the City of Baltimore, City of Baltimore agencies and quasi-agencies working for a minimum of 6 months are eligible.
This is a $5,000 down payment and closing cost assistance grant with no annual income limits. This is a no interest loan for a period of 5 years and after the 5 years have passed the loan is forgiven and it is reduced by 20% for each year you occupy the property.
The property must be located in the City of Baltimore and the mortgage loan amount can not exceed $417,000. The buyer must contribute at least $1,000 of their own money towards the purchase and must use the property for their principal residence. The closing on the property must occur within 90 days of the contract date and only one city employee per household may receive assistance.
The buyer must also take a home buyer education class from an accredited HUD counseling agency (ask me for a referral).
