Don't Forget to Ask for the Testimonial

Right at the closing table, don't forget to ask your client for their testimonial right when the completion of the sale is fresh in their mind and they are happy about getting the keys or releasing the keys for their home.  

My settlement person will often help with that and take pictures of the happy moment, or if the lender is there they can help too.  

Testimonials in writing are great. 

Video testimonials area becoming very popular too.

I also ask for testimonials on Zillow and on Homes.com  Buyers and sellers do look at those reviews when looking for a Realtor to buy or sell a home.  

Then when you have them, share them.  Post them on your blog, on your Facebook page and anywhere you can.  Testimonials are like business cards, they don't do you any good unless you share them!!

That's a great idea, June. I often get written testimonials and had never thought of sharing them on my blog.

We don't ask at the closing table because that moment is about them.  We always check in once our clients are settled in and then we ask if they wouldn't mind writing something up about their experience with us.  

Pictures at closing are always fun too!  

When you knock it out of the park for them they almost always tag us and provide testimonials.

Don't ask, then don't expect to get a testimonial.

You are so right.  It's so important to get those testimonials and quickly.  If a client is a business owner, I make sure to connect with them on Linkedin, too.  We can write testimonials for each other!

I send out a written survey and I take pictures at closings and post on FB, which always draws a lot of attention. But I never thought of doing a video testimonial at closing. I'll need to try that. Thanks for the idea.

Nice testimonial, June. I get them, and use them in my newsletters and elsewhere, but need to up the ante, giving links to Yelp! LinkedIn, Zillow, etc.

My clients are usually pretty receptive to giving me a review at an online site.  I rarely post photos of them at closing on my personal social media sites...seems.. boastful?  I need to get over it and just do it!!
