There's a New Rental Law in Town - Baltimore City That Is

On August 1st a new law came into affect that governs rental properties in Baltimore City.  The new law requires all Baltimore City rental properties, single family as well as multi unit, to be licensed to operate as a rental property by January 1, 2019.

All Baltimore City rental properties:

  1. must be registered with the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) using the online portal
  2. must be inspected by a State Licensed, Baltimore City registered Home Inspector in order to receive a license from the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD).  You can also ask me for a personal referral to one of my trusted service providers.

If you have any questions about real estate investing in Baltimore City or surrounding area, or would like a referral for financing or refinancing or would like to diversify your existing portfolio or expand your existing portfolio please don't hesitate to give me a call, text or drop me an email.  I am happy to help.

Is this law good or bad for you?  June Piper-Brandon on the surface, it looks like it is good!  I think we have a problem here, where there are agents managing illegal vacation rentals, but the government agencies turn their backs, because they don't have the manpower to enforce.

This is excellent information to share with owners of rental properties.
